It is a beautiful little city nestled between forest and farmland, and it is no wonder that so many spirits have decided to stay here rather than move on.Visitors to the city will want to take the Ghost Tours of Beckley, which is one of the most popular attractions in the area. On the tour, you can visit a number of old homes, mansions, and other sites reputed to be haunted.Some of the sites that you will visit on your tour include the Raleigh County Courthouse, the Coal Baron Mansions, and the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Theater.When you visit the Raleigh County Courtroom, you will want to keep your eyes peeled for anything out of the ordinary. One of the sighting reports that come from the courthouse is that of a female apparition wearing a red dress. No one knows who she could be, although some believe it could be a former employee, or a family member of someone who met their demise at the hands of the justice system.Another popular site with both the living and the dead is the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Theater, built in 1931. Today it is an art gallery and performance center. Many of the people who work at the site report a variety of phenomena, including cold spots, disembodied voices, and strange, unexplainable noises. Some have even reported and apparition of a man in gray.Keep your senses sharp on the tour – you never know what you might see, feel, or hear.Remember to bring your camera and perhaps even your video camera if it has night vision capability. Take plenty of shots and video footage. You will never know just what you might come across when your review your pictures. Just make sure you know the difference between pictures of dust reflections and something that might be an actual supernatural entity!
